Statement of Faith Bible: We believe the Bible to be the inspired and revealed Word of God, inerrant in its original manuscripts, and our standard of faith and practice. We believe that it is the standard by which all subsequent revelation is to be evaluated. God: We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, as revealed in the Bible. He is Creator, Redeemer, Sovereign Ruler of the universe and the source of all truth, love, and faith. Jesus: We believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, his virgin birth, his sinless life, his vicarious death, his atoning blood, his bodily resurrection, his ascension to the right hand of the Father, and his personal return to earth in power and great glory. Sin: We believe that man was created in the image of God, but through disobedience, man was separated from God, and that without God he is without hope. We believe that all men have sinned through their own self-centeredness and have come short of the glory of God. Salvation: We believe that forgiveness of sins and eternal life come only through God's divine Son, Jesus Christ, who purchased our redemption by his death on the cross. We believe that salvation and eternal life are free gifts of God's grace. We believe that when people truly turn from their sins and turn to Christ in faith, he forgives their sins and imparts eternal life through his Spirit. This personal experience is absolutely essential to come into the kingdom of heaven and inherit eternal life. Holy Spirit: We believe that Jesus dwelt among men, revealing the will of his Father, and that after his ascension, he sent the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, to abide with and in his followers forever as an attestation of our newfound life in him. We also believe that God desires each of us to enter into an empowering experience with his Holy Spirit, so that we might have a bold and effective witness and manifest the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit in our daily lives. This experience is referred to in Scripture as the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. The Christian Life: The essential accompaniment of a genuine saving relationship with Jesus Christ is a life of holiness and obedience. This is accomplished as believers grow in their love for Christ and submit themselves to the instruction of the Bible and the Holy Spirit. We are also convinced that the manifest power of God, as seen in the New Testament churches through the miracles, the power, and the victories, can and should be manifest in our lives today. The Church: We believe that the heart desire of Jesus Christ is to build the Church, his Body, so that it can show forth his manifold wisdom in the earth and in the heavenly realm. We believe that there is one true Universal Church comprised of all believers who follow Jesus as Lord and Savior. We also believe that in each local church there is to be a visible expression of the one true Universal Church. As people establish a relationship with Jesus, they are also to establish a relationship with one another for mutual care and edification. We believe the New Testament pattern calls for each local church to be led, cared for, and governed by elders. Under the care of these elders and other supportive leaders, members of the body of Christ are to work together in love, maintaining the bond of unity, intent on one ultimate purpose - to glorify Christ. Future Destiny: We believe that Jesus Christ will physically return again to the earth in great power and glory to establish his eternal kingdom. We believe in the resurrection of all men unto judgment for how their life was lived while here on earth, whether good or bad. Those whose names are not found in the Lamb's Book of Life will be eternally separated from God while those whose names are written in the Book of Life will live and reign with Jesus here on earth for all eternity. While the sequence of these events is not always uniformly understood among believers, we believe that the most important thing for us to understand is the certainty of their happening and the Lord's admonition to us to watch and wait for his return with expectancy and obedient preparedness. |
